U.S. Cahaba Land Office - registers of patents received and delivered, 1859-1874.

Land patents were issued to individual purchasers only after a thorough check of the records revealed that all payments had been received and the records relating to the purchase were in order. The U.S. General Land Office sent the patents to district land office Registers who were responsible for delivery of the patents to the purchaser. These volumes serve as a register of the patents received at the Cahaba Land Office and those delivered to the purchaser. Each listing consists of the patent number, the name of the purchaser, the location of the land, and notes (date of receipt, date of delivery, and whom delivered to). These records document the process by which individuals purchased public lands and provide information on individual purchasers and their land.

2 volumes.
